Abstract: Joint venture performance is determined and influenced by various criteria and factors. The influences of such variables are not all directly, some of them manifest their influences through indirect route. In certain circumstances, they will interact with each other and eventually affect joint venture performance. This study discusses these variables step by step. With the help of literatures, the author reviews and synthesizes prior studies addressing the conceptualization of how these variables link together. The relationship among these variables were then examined by using a case study of Sichuan Chengmian Expressway Company Limited (SCME), a cooperative joint venture in Sichuan, People's Republic of China. Finally, the author proposes a new framework linking these variables to find how they interact and how they affect joint venture performance. It is hoped and believed that this study can provide a guideline for present and future Sino-Hong Kong joint venture management to improve their performances.
