Abstract: | This paper describes the application of a maintenance decision technique - Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) to the Platform Screen Doors (PSD) of the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway (MTR). The RCM Decision Diagram and a revised RCM Decision Worksheet have been employed to formulate and record the maintenance tasks for the PSD system. At the end of this study, a list of maintenance tasks is presented from the Empirical RCM Study. In order to provide a focus on the most important equipment items that should be given particular attention, a Monte Carlo - Weibull Model has been developed to simulate the PSD failure behaviours based on the past in-service data of the PSD together with economic data. In this way, the management concerned can make a decision on what should be done with high priority in order to minimise the unreliability costs incurred. |
