Abstract: The performance of high-rise buildings under strong winds has always been a measure of the comfort and safety of a building. For coastal areas it is even more important for tall buildings to have good wind resistance ability due to the high frequency of typhoons. The impact of climate change on typhoon wind speed is analyzed. The estimated mean velocity data are used in the model of ETABS finite element software which combined with Monte Carlo simulation method to get corresponding distributions of various uncertainty parameters that may affect the maximum displacement and acceleration of the structure. Then the long-term losses are estimated accordingly. Finally, effective restoration measures are proposed to improve the performance and reduce the loss of high-rise buildings under typhoon conditions. The analysis shows that as the global climate change causes an increase in the mean wind speed of the typhoon, the displacement, acceleration and long-time loss of the building under wind load will increase correspondingly if the building is not reinforced; While adding fluid viscous dampers (FVD) retrofit method will reduce the displacement of the building by about 35% under the same conditions and the long-term loss of the building will be reduced accordingly.
