An advanced dispatching system in modern lift systemsen_US
Lift supervisory control system plays an importance role to dispatch passengers in a lot of buildings around the world. With a more efficient control system, passengers will spend less time on lift systems. Higher degree of lift availability is achieved. Floor space can be saved. More number of floors can be built and more passengers will be served. The aim of this research is to evaluate lift performance of using a new control system, M10-EX. The principles of the system are derived from the contemporary lift supervisory control system, M10 from Schroder[March 1990]. Two key features used by M10 are destination call halls and instant car-to-call assignments. The feature of destination hall calls provides a simplified user interface to passengers. Through the installation of numeric keypads at each floor, passengers enter their floor numbers which are their exiting floors. Immediately, the display on the keypads will show a lift number which will transport them to their destinations. Time spent on the passenger interaction of lift system can be saved. The feature of instant car-to-call assignments schedules exiting stop requests from passengers in queues up to 1-1/2 lift round-trips ahead. Passengers are channelled through maximizing coincident stops in upper floors. Passengers having common exiting floors will be transported together. Passenger destination time will be shortened. Overall, passengers will spend less time on the lift system. In the M10-EX system, the feature of destination hall calls is maintained but exiting stop requests from passengers in queues are scheduled up to one lift round-trip ahead. Passengers are channelled through a prioritization process. The feature of instant car-to-call assignments is changed to delay car-to-call assignments. The supervisory control system will obtain more information including arrived passengers and lift information before making decision of stop floors. Another objective of the research is to evaluate different lift parameters on lift performance. Thus the essential lift parameters which can improve lift performance can be found out. From the result of the research, in terms of passenger destination time the M10-EX system performs better than the M10 system under up-peak traffic environment and a number of assumptions. Since the M10 system could perform better than conventional lift supervisory system, the further development of the M10-EX system could benefit passengers, building owners and lift manufacturers.en_US
