dcterms.abstract | This research study is aimed to provide a theoretical framework and detailed guidance to the executives and decision makers in the banks in Hong Kong, so as to facilitate the application of Business Process Reengineering (BPR) theory onto the Information Technology (IT) implementations. This report introduces the background of the banking industry in Hong Kong, the problems being encountered by the banks, and the classification of information systems in a typical retail banking environment. On the other hand, the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) concept is introduced, and together with the technology advancements, some new business applications are born. Afterward, the BPR concept is introduced with a framework model. Subsequently, analysis with the specific issues in local banking business and the classification of information systems is carried out, to study how the BPR can be conceptualized in the Hong Kong banking environment. This report contains valuable information because BPR is a proven concept, and there are many technology initiatives leading to new IT implementations in the banking environment, which forces the banks to decide the best applications to implement and to accomplish it in the best way. | en_US |
