Abstract: With the development of society and economy, the ideas of ecology and human care have gradually attracted attention, and more attention has been paid to the ecological and sustainable development of buildings. Glued timber structure is featured by low energy consumption, renewable nature, decomposition friendly, small environmental pollution, and as well as excellent seismic performance. Modern timber structures are also widely adopted in large spans and in multiple layers. Therefore, it is necessary to design connections with better bearing capacity and good ductility to meet the structural requirements. Shape memory alloy (SMA) possesses extraordinary shape memory effect, super-elasticity, corrosion resistance, high damping, and high electrical resistance. Among them, the super-elastic effect of SMA has outstanding hysteretic energy and self-recovery characteristics, which can mitigate the structural seismic response and exhibit no residual deformation or small deformation when the load is unloaded. This self-recovery and energy dissipation feature have a broad application prospect in the field of structural disaster prevention and mitigation. In this dissertation, with the multi-storey and high-rise frame structure as the background, the longitudinal super-elastic SMA bolts are adopted in the beam-column joints of the timber frame structure and its hysteretic behavior is studied. The main contents include: (1) The timber property test of glulam, which was carried out by National Forestry Administration East China Wood and Wood Products Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, including the moisture content, tensile strength, shear strength, etc. of the glulam, and providing the material index for the calculation of the bearing capacity of the joint. (2) Cyclic load test of SMA bolts at different temperatures (3) Proposed the bending moment-rotation relationship model of the joint, tested the structural response of the SMA-reinforced timber structural beam-column joint under pseudo-seismic load and analyzed its hysteresis curve, backbone curve, self-centering capability.
