Abstract: In recent years, with the growth of the complex construction project and international construction project, the influence of organizational factors on construction performance is gradually apparent, so the organizational design of projects has attracted more and more attention from the construction industry. Against this backdrop, researchers have studied what organizational factors affect construction performance, how the relationship between the elements with the performance, and achieved individual results. However, quantitative research on how the organizational factors affect the construction performance has not been widely discussed. In this paper, we selected organizational factors affecting construction performance based on previous studies, and we used an agent-based modeling approach-an unconventional bottom-up approach to study the impact of team organization on construction performance. The construction environment in the model is a complex system consisting of construction sites, task, workers, project managers, and different organizational factors by the interaction with each other. Besides paying attention to the relationship between organizational factors and construction performance, this study also provides a practical framework to study how various organizational factors interacting with different parameters such as environmental and human factors could affect construction performance. As a result, we found that communication tool can improve the quality of organizational work process and construction, and sub-team leader can shorten construction time through simulating different construction scenarios. Thus, providing a specific reference basis for the organizational design of the construction project team.
