Abstract: Many cities around the world are facing both water shortage and flooding problems caused by climate change and urban development. In order to mitigate these problems, it is important to collect and reuse rainwater. In addition, because reusing rainwater is very important to mitigate drought, so it is useful to develop an intelligent water tank. The development of intelligent water tank is a complex and slow process that requires interdisciplinary communication and cooperation. The intelligent part of the intelligent water tank is an application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology which is an emerging and complex discipline, it is mainly include Internet, communication technology and sensing technology. Before recycling the collected rainwater, it is important to know the water level and water quality in the water tank. Therefore, an intelligent water tank real time monitoring system needs to be developed, which can enable users to monitor water level and water quality in the water tank at anytime and anywhere. This monitoring system is just a simple application example of IoT technology. Therefore, In the era of informatization and intelligence, the development and application of Internet of Things technology will become very important. Internet of Things plays an important role in constructing an environmentally friendly city.
