dc.title | Simulation study on the arrangement of condensing units impact on the operation performance of air conditioning in typical Hong Kong residential buildings | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | The performance of condensing units placed on the high-rise buildings is one of the urgent research topic for building energy saving. The poor operate units can cause more energy consumption and release more heat, which will exacerbate the urban heat island effect. In order to investigate the performance of condensing units in Hong Kong, three typical types of Hong Kong residential buildings are chosen to studied. In this thesis, the basic theory about conditioning refrigeration principle and computational fluid dynamics were reviewed, three simulations were conducted, simulation results were rigorous analysis and comparison respectively, some recommendations were put forward through reviewed the previous academic papers, and some advises about the future research directions and prospects were presented in the final. Based on the simulation results, it is clear that the shape of the building facade and the placement of the outdoor unit have an effect on the outdoor performance. The heat dissipation effect of the groove type outdoor unit is not as good as that of the direct external type outdoor unit and the operate performance of the outdoor unit placed in the groove of the curved facade is not as good as that of the straight facade, and will suffering a grate chance of break down. Also condensing units placed on the high-rise building is a potential fire risk and should pay more attention to. The future building design and condensing units placement need to consider the building structure impact and the performance differences of the outdoor units caused by the arrangements. | en_US |
