Abstract: As an important means to guarantee software quality, software testing plays an irreplaceable role in the process of software development. The key of software testing is how to generate test cases. A major work of the thesis is to present a survey of currently available automated test tools in China. From a survey done in XI'AN, we have developed a set of guidelines for how to select relevant tools for different sizes of development work in companies. These tools include unit test tools which are very important in current mainland software testing field. However, these tools are rarely available locally while very expensive for those from foreign companies. Because of this problem, our work also proposes and has developed a unit test framework for C language. Using such a tool can help software development engineers or quality engineers to perform unit testing, and obtaining corresponding results. Based on this framework, an engineer can perform Test Drive Development (TDD) to identify bugs in the source code and improve the software quality.
