Abstract: | In the era of energy shortage, people need more energy to meet people's needs, but building energy consumption and people's comfort needs are often contrary. Because of the complex distribution of campus buildings in universities, such as the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, there are usually multiple electricity accounts to use electricity. There are two ways to calculate these electricity accounts, one is to calculate them separately, the other is to calculate them together. There are differences between the two charging schemes. In a billing cycle, demand charge is usually the main part of the total electricity cost. Monthly peak demand limiting is an effective way to reduce the electricity bills when charging for peak demand is applied. The purpose of this paper is to compare two kinds of electricity charging schemes and find out which one is more economical. At the same time, find out the reasons behind the cost saving and how to save more cost. Discuss the applicability of the electricity tariff together to achieve cost savings in other regions (e.g., Mainland China) and other types of buildings. Then studies the cost saving brought by the peak demand limiting of campus buildings. On the basis of using the thermal storage system, it puts forward a scheme of demand limiting and calculates its cost saving and effort cost to make out the actual cost benefit. |
