|Title:||Analytic sensitivity method for transient security assessment in typical simulated Hong Kong and South China interconnected system||en_US|
|Abstract:||Transient Security Assessment through Extended Equal Area Criterion (EEAC) and Sensitivity Analysis are applied to a typical Hong Kong and South China interconnected system. The results in critical fault clearance time and angle of various fault locations and loading conditions are compared with conventional swing curve method. On the other hand, power generation transient stability limit of the system is found, which is useful to generation planning. This report will explain the theory of EEAC, Sensitivity Analysis, Power Generation Transient Stability Limit and the power system model used. It is followed by application, comparison and evaluation of different methods. Two computer programs are written. The procedures are shown below: For EEAC program: 1) Input data. 2) Build bus admittance matrices. 3) Compute load flow to find busbar voltage and angle by Gauss-Seidel Method. 4) Reduce size of the admittance matrices by matrix algebra. 5) Find critical machine. 6) Compute critical fault clearing angle by EEAC. 7) Calculate critical fault clearing time by Taylor Series. 8) Calculate sensitivity of transient stability margin with respect to generation power. 9) Draw generation power limit versus critical clearing time curve. For Swing Curve program: 1) Input data. 2) Build bus admittance matrices. 3) Compute load flow to find busbar voltage and angle by Gauss-Seidel Method. 4) Reduce size of the admittance matrices by matrix algebra. 5) Compute critical fault clearing angle and time by Swing Curve Method. From the result of this project, it verifies the potential of applying EEAC and Sensitivity Analysis to small and medium size power systems.||en_US|
