Abstract: As more and more corporations aware the advantage of using the Internet to increase the efficiency of communication and leverage the profit of the business, more concern has been placed on the presents on the Internet especially the World Wide Web. Although there has quite a number of researches and studies on the Internet, most of them were focused on the emerging computer technologies. This study was not focus on the technology issues but mainly focus on the implication of running business on the Internet and using the Internet to increase the profit. Firstly, the report reviews the different services on the Internet which corporations can be used to benefit their business operations. Then a more detail discussion on electronic commerce is presented with two popular business models which are electronic storefront and electronic publishing. A brief discussion on the use of emerging Intranet in corporation is also presented. By understanding the Internet Web Site Categorization a company can easily position the Wed site on the Internet and develop the Web site using the most appropriated strategy with reference to the four strategy dimensions mentioned in the report. To provide more easy understand on different categories and models, examples of Web sites and companies are given. Five suggested real life business opportunities were listed as a conclusion. Further study was also recommended in the report. People interested in doing business on the Internet or carry out study on it should benefit in reading this research report.
