Comparison of linear and non-linear adaptive bus control lawsen_US
The convenience of the urban bus system has become an essential criterion for measuring the development of a city. The punctuality of buses affects people's daily commute. However, the bus system is unstable. The bunching phenomenon occurs by the natural consequence of stochastic bus motions.en_US
To study the bus bunching problem in-depth, we must first establish a bus motion model. The established bus motion model needs to include random interference, travel time, and dwell time.en_US
Adaptive holding control was proposed by Daganzo (2009) to eliminate bunching. It holds select buses at control points upon their arrivals. It can compensate for the deviation of arrival time and thus can reduce bunching.en_US
This project aims to compare the control performances between linear and non-linear adaptive control methods. We also examine which operating parameters play essential roles in the control result.en_US
