An investigation of the adaptive behavior for water showering of occupancy in domestic apartmenten_US
Hot water usage for showering, bathing as well as clothes and dishes washing, are the major driver of household energy consumption. Energy efficiency can be increased besides by the technology of the appliances, for example, use less water and make fast-response temperature optimizer. changes in consumer behavior and mindset such as taking shower with a lower temperature regulating set-point and with a shorter duration are also critically important. It is essential to determine the variables that influence water consumption and reduce the water wasted by increasing the efficiency of water boiler. This study investigated the relationship of hot water showering behavior and the thermal comfort in Hong Kong residential apartments. Our dissertation topic, in which hot water showering one of is the three major type of household energy consumption. Definitely, Hong Kong is one the most stressful city in the world. The demand for stress relief and healing is increasing. Hot Water showering is a good way of not only maintaining personal cleanliness and temperature, but also stress relief mentally and promotes relaxation.en_US
Besides studied the human adaptive behavior and associated psychological reactions when taking whole-body type hot water showering. Some physiological factors with the physical bathing environment will also be investigated. The showering temperature, the showering duration time of old and young, men and female, with different height/weight were examined. It is essential to determine the relationships of adaptive behaviors that influence showering activity. The results in this research may improve the existing understanding of circumstance affecting the demand of water, and they may be beneficial in the evolution of water conservation strategy or the promotion of the sustainable use of water resources of Hong Kong. A consistent and long-term educational program are required to raise awareness of conserving water. By conservating the energy used in the hot showering system, not just only on the water bills and the money than actual amount of water used, the emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollutants will be significantly dropped.en_US
Through the voluntary survey from the domestic occupants of different ages, gender and body build, such as preferable boiler temperature and duration taken, and their feeling of comfort, the analysis aimed to be figured out in systematic way for comparison with other research journals and further give new findings, which make conclusion as a reference of elaboration towards the policy makers, engineering designers and academic researchers. Nevertheless, this topic is worthy to go deeply which can be further discussed by different sectors afterwards.en_US
