| dcterms.abstract | Open-plan offices have become popular these years because of their flexible spaces. These types of offices facilitate communication and sharing of ideas between office occupants. However, the noise distribution problem is one of the most serious problems in open-plan offices. The poor acoustic conditions will lead to a lack of privacy between each other. Occupants working in this office layout may easily be affected by activities happened surrounding them and cause distractions when working, while distraction will lower the office productivity. Speech privacy and noise level are two main conditions for acoustic measurements. | en_US |
| dcterms.abstract | In this thesis, the aim is to analyse the acoustic environment of open-plan offices in PolyU. In-field measurements and distribution questionnaire will be carried out in selected open-plan offices. Physical measurement and subjective evaluation are then compared and find out the relationship between the objective results and the subjective view. Acoustic parameters regarding the open-plan offices are introduced. Correlations between the acoustic parameters with the subjective view are also described. | en_US |
