Abstract: Carbon emissions are a major concern in Hong Kong, but how to address the issue is a major focus of research in Hong Kong today, and carbon trading is an effective means of reducing emissions and balancing the carbon market. In order to investigate the development of carbon trading in Hong Kong and mainland China, this paper presents a simulation of a hotel building using solar and wind power as renewable energy sources to reduce the use of non-renewable energy sources. The simulation demonstrates the maximum economic performance that can be achieved with a 500 watt offshore wind turbine, where the maximum economic performance is determined using two comparative methods of calculating net present value and payback period, the maximum technical performance can be achieved with 0.75 500 watt offshore wind turbines and 731 floating PV panels, the technical performance is calculated by comparing two physical quantities, OEM and OEF, and calculating equivalent In order to compare the environmental performance impacts, the combination that achieves the maximum economic performance is applied to the current carbon trading market in mainland China, the data for Shenzhen is chosen because the meteorological conditions in Shenzhen are similar to those in Hong Kong, which makes it easier for us to compare. After calculating the profitability of conducting carbon trading, the formation of a carbon trading market in Hong Kong is explored.
