Abstract: | Quality management is becoming more and more important in nowadays business environment. Having the ability to prove that one's company can produce quality products increase the competitiveness of the company. A way to show that a software developer is able to produce quality product is to obtain ISO 9000 certification. ISO 9000 family of standards is universally accepted standards that most of the customers treasure and require their vendors obtain this certification. This family of standards provides guidelines for companies WHAT have to be done in order to show their products are quality products. However it does not address HOW this can be done. On the other hand, RAISE method is a comprehensive software development method that it is going to ensure quality software. It is interesting to see that by applying RAISE method in the software development cycle, most of the ISO 9001 requirements can be fulfilled. In this situation, software developer can then use this as a starting point to narrow the gap between a WHAT and HOW dilemma. And this in turn finally ensures the software developer to produce products that meets the customers' quality requirement. |
