Characteristics and impact analysis of grid inertia spatiotemporal distributionen_US
Inertia is the inherent attribute of the power system. The existence of inertia allows the system to suppress the frequency change. The study of system inertia is of great significance in maintaining the stability of system operation. With the large number of wind power, photovoltaic, and other new energy units connected, the power system's inertia is declining. At the same time, the reserve resources of the system are lacking, and the frequency modulation can not be carried out in time, so the frequency stability of the power grid is threatened. To reasonably allocate reserve resources and improve system stability, it is necessary to estimate and identify the inertia of the power system.en_US
At the same time, due to the geographical distribution restriction of primary energy, the geographical distribution of new energy power generation is uneven. When there is a significant active power imbalance in the system, the grid frequency shows prominent spatial-temporal distribution characteristics. This paper analyzes the inertia characteristics of the power system, considers the inertia estimation methods of a generator, a specific area, and the whole power system based on the swing equation; then discusses the relationship between the space-time distribution characteristics of grid frequency and the space-time distribution characteristics of inertia; studies the space-time characteristics of grid inertia through node inertia. The main research work is as follows:en_US
dcterms.abstract1) The inertia characteristics of the power system are studied and analyzed. The essence of power system inertia and its concrete embodiment in the dynamic process of the power grid are discussed. Then the source of inertia of the power system is analyzed, and the method of inertia estimation of the power system is described. The difference in inertia response between traditional and high penetration renewable power systems is analyzed, and the definitions of inertia constants of the two systems are expounded, respectively.en_US
dcterms.abstract2) The inertia estimation method based on the swing equation is studied. Estimating the system's inertia constant using the swing equation is analyzed based on the system's transient response. However, in practice, some parameters in the swing equation are challenging to monitor and obtain. Therefore, the parameters in the swing equation are approximately replaced based on the simulation environment and the existing power system. Then the IEEE 10 generator 39 bus system is used for system simulation, and the traditional power system's inertia response and inertia constant estimation methods are tested.en_US
dcterms.abstract3) The spatialtemporal distribution characteristics of the system inertia are analyzed by reducing the calculation equation of node inertia constant. First, the influence of the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of the system inertia on the system is described, as well as its research significance. Then the relationship between the spatial-temporal distribution of system frequency and inertia is discussed. And the node inertia is mentioned by studying the frequency distribution of different nodes in the system. With the help of the node inertia of the system, the impact of inertia distribution on the frequency stability and transient stability of the system is studied and analyzed for the IEEE 10 generator 39 bus system.en_US
