dcterms.abstract | Beijing Olympic games is coming near by. The research object is the hotel industry of Qinhuangdao City influenced by 2008 Beijing Olympic games. The intent of this thesis is to make useful suggestions to hotels in Qinhuangdao to develop themselves using the Olympic opportunity by learning lessons from the previous host city of Olympic games. Some cases were taken to examine the Olympic impacts on hotel industry of host cities. The cities that has been chosen are Seoul. 1988,Barcelona, 1992,Atlantic 1996, Sydney, 2000,Athens, 2004. In these previous host cities, the supply of hotel room numbers had been increasing from the two years before to the Olympic year. But the occupancy rates were all decreased in the Olympic year. Interviews of experts from the tourism and hotel industry of Qinhuangdao were taken as complement. Predictions were made on Beijing Olympic impacts on hotel industry of Qinhuangdao, combined the lessons from the previous cities, the tourists behaviors with the interviews. Beijing Olympic Games is an important opportunity for hotels' development of Qinhuangdao. The investment and tourists would not increase significantly. The Olympic impacts on hotels of Qinhuangdao are on the proportion adjustment of different star hotels, alternation of the facilities and equipments, improvement of service quality, change of management and introduce hotel management group. Some measures were given on how to make use of Olympic opportunity to hotel industry and hotels in Qinhuangdao in the last part. First is to make adjustment of the different star hotels to meet needs of different consumers of segmentation markets. Second is to change management methods to get higher profits. Third is to build local famous hotel and join in hotel management group. Fourth one is to improve service quality by increasing training lessons. Fifth is to expand channels for sales by taking part in the Olympic information network platform. The last is to build Olympic hotel according to Olympic Mission. | en_US |
