dcterms.abstractHealth problems of residents in megacities is emerging due to the population densification and rapid urbanization. The demand of strength training (ST) among residents has increased in recent years. While urban green spaces (UGS) provide urban residents with free places for physical activity (PA), their quality also affects residents' physical activity and strength training levels. This study investigates the relationship between the quality of urban green space in Shenzhen and residents' physical activity level, strength training level, and engagement of strength training through offline interviews and online questionnaires with 327 residents who use urban green space. Significant findings are derived on three aspects of the relationship between urban green space quality in Shenzhen and (1) residents' physical activity patterns (2) residents' strength training patterns (3) strength trainers' strength training patterns. First, the distance, quality of urban green space and residents' income significantly affected the frequency and duration of residents' physical activity. Second, residents' daily strength training frequency, gender, and the availability of professional strength facilities in urban green spaces are associated with residents' engagement in urban green spaces in strength training. The quality of the urban green space (sports facility, maintenance, largeness, aesthetic) and the gender of the residents have an impact on the frequency of residents' strength training within the urban green space. Last. urban green space quality (sports facility, maintenance, lights) was associated with strength trainers' engagement in urban green spaces in strength training. Compared to the effect of UGS quality on residents' strength training frequency, strength trainers' strength training frequency are also affected by shady areas and lights in urban green spaces. The presence of professional strength training facilities would positively affect strength training frequency in urban green spaces and compensate for the lack of maintenance, largeness, and lights in urban green spaces.en_US
