Bending sensor based on tilted Bragg grating fiberen_US
Tilted Fiber Bragg Grating (TFBG) is a type of fiber grating with a special structure that introduces a tilted grating plane in the optical fiber. It enables the coupling of light from the fiber's core mode to various cladding modes,Coupling occurs when the propagation constant of the core mode matches the effective refractive index of the cladding mode. TFBG exhibits different transmission and reflection characteristics due to this coupling mechanism which grants TFBG distinct applications.en_US
In this paper, Phase mask is employed to fabricate a 10° TFBG, and corresponding spectral observations after bending experiment are conducted. The data analysis, linear fitting coefficient (R²) is 0.993 for the cladding mode ranging from 1542.8nm to 1543.4nm. The calculated curvature sensitivity is 1.6nm/m⁻¹, and the curvature sensing range spans from 0.079 m⁻¹ to 0.21 m⁻¹.en_US
