Comparison of solar racing cart and solar charging stationen_US
This research makes the detail analysis and comparison of two different types of solar vehicle: solar racing cart and electric vehicle with solar energy charging port. In order to access the performance of solar racing cart, a solar cart is developed jointly with the Mechanical Engineering Department. The development consists of 3 parts: application of solar energy, cruising simulation and Power/ speed optimizing control. This research is responses for the application of solar energy. Based on the mechanism of the solar cart and the speed optimizing results, a solar electric power system with storage batteries are designed and installed. Based on the computer simulation, the cart can continuous run for 8 hours with the speed 20km/h. This research will present detail technical of this solar cart. Further, a solar powered charging station with 100m2 of photovoltaic cells is designed. Based on the field measurement and computer simulation, the proposed charging station can generate 8MJh per annual. The payback of the embodied energy and GHG emission is 14 years and 5 years respectively. The results show that the proposed application can greatly benefit to the environmental and is suitable to HK climate.en_US
