| dcterms.abstract | Forecasts of future demand are essential to a supply chain manager's decision-making processes. Well-financed and large-scale supermarkets, with a scale of operation that powers through the supply chain, are poised to dominate the markets in Hong Kong. Given a total market size that is not growing in any significant manner, we are presented with a zero sum game, in which growth must occur at the expense of a competitor. In order to win in this game, the accuracy of demand forecasting becomes more important. With the advance technology, more and more companies start to use software application for generations of demand forecasts. A case company is brought into discussion with the details of preparation and implementation procedure provided. Base on the results of the use of error measurements and statistical testing and the comparison between the accuracy of major forecasting methods, the author proposed that demand forecasting software does contributes toward achieving expectations. | en_US |
