dcterms.abstractA trellis-coded multiple spreading sequence Direct-Sequence CDMA system is proposed. Each user in the Multiple-Access system is assigned with M spreading sequence. The data to be sent is encoded by a trellis encoder with rate rb .Then the encoded symbol represents 1/rb data bits and a corresponding spreading sequence is selected by the trellis coded symbol. The advantage of this system is the high bandwidth efficiency where the traditional convolutional coded CDMA system enlarges the requirement frequency bandwidth as the redundancy is added by the coding. The proposed system attack this drawback by increasing the number of spreading sequence so each spreading sequence represents more than one data bit in the channel. The complexity and practical implementation of the proposed system is considered in this dissertation. It is shown that this system provides significant system performance improvement over conventional CDMA system and is feasible for manufacturing.en_US
