Previous researches manifested that the backpackers not only encouraged host people pursuing the tourism business but also brought more economic and non-economic benefits to the host communities than mass tourists. From the aspect of destination market development, this study is aimed at explore the readiness of that city of Yantai, in the north of China, to become a backpacker destination. The research method mainly employed qualitative semi-structure interviews. The conclusion indicates that Yantai has the potential to become a backpacker secondary destination but it is too soon to pursue the backpacker business in the community at the present time. | en_US |
