| dcterms.abstract | In recent years, Information Technology (IT) professionals are under pressure to provide the best possible information systems to meet today's dynamic business environment which means changes in user requirements can occur overnight. Information systems should have to be sufficiently flexible to cater for unexpected changes in user demand and must be able to react quickly to cope with user's needs. Nowadays, one of the new stars of software engineering is object- oriented (OO) technology. This approach differs significantly from the traditional one and is expected to be the next-generation software engineering tool. In fact, OO paradigm is being increasingly used in the design and development of complex software projects, including database management systems and many other computer applications. OO technology (OOT) is indeed the most important advance in software development in the last thirty years. It is believed that OOT is a core component of the solutions for today's IS challenges and the foundation for tomorrow's dreams. The purpose of this dissertation is to use the OO approach to develop a Computerized Performance Assessment System (CPAS) to support the Project Architect and Engineer of the Hong Kong Housing Authority in monitoring the construction contractors' performance in building public house. A prototype would be built to show the design of applying the principles of OO methodology. | en_US |
