|Abstract:||In this thesis, a new class of 0-3 nanocomposite, namely, Strontium barium niobate / polycarbonate 0-3 nanocomposite (SBN/PC 0-3 nanocomposite) with different weight concentration and Sr/Ba ratio was fabricated by using sol-gel and hot press techniques. The optimal processing conditions for preparing these SBN/PC 0-3 nanocomposites were established. In particular, the effects of (i) dryness, (ii) temperature and (iii) hot press pressure on the samples' quality were studied. After fabricating of these materials, the PC, SBN powder and SBN/PC nanocomposites were characterised by means of Raman Spectroscopy. From their Raman spectra, no chemical interaction between SBN nanopowder and PC was found in SBN/PC nanocomposites. In addition, Raman spectroscopy was used to quantify the SBN/PC composition in our study. In addition, second harmonic generation (SHG) of both SBN nanopowder and SBN/PC nanocomposites were studied. The SHG efficiency was measured as a function of incident light intensity, nanopowder concentration and Sr/Ba ratio.|
