dc.title | A model of software outsourcing to overseas | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | Information technology has become one of the fastest-growing, fastest-changing markets in the world. The high demand on software applications and services is forcing more companies to turn to outsourcing to meet their customer needs. Software outsourcing is defined as contracting out software services, operations, products or development of applications. The purpose of this research is to propose a possible success model for the company who would like to outsource its software-related services such as software development, software support and maintenance, system integration, IT consultancy services and etc. To achieve the purpose of this research, both literature review and survey study are involved. At the beginning of this research, we discuss the drivers for software outsourcing and the benefits brought to enterprises by software outsourcing arrangement. Then we explore the issues and challenges encountered during software outsourcing processes such as failure of supplier management, unrealistic outsourcing benefits, poor communication and etc. We also provide a framework for a successful outsourcing model through a plenty of literature review. After that, an adoption model is developed based on Balanced Scorecard approach. The model is later verified and refined through a survey to 130 project managers that come from Hong Kong. Finally, we present the results and findings after a thorough analysis on the information collected through the survey, and give practical recommendations how to tackle on the challenges and bring success to the projects. | en_US |
