A prototype for recovering dynamic semantics from relational schemaen_US
This dissertation builds a prototype system which semi-automatically transforms a relational schema to an object-oriented schema. The transformation concept and the translation methodology are mainly based on the two papers from Irene Kwan et al. The structural semantics are recovered from the Data Definition Language based on a set of mapping and translation rules. The dynamic semantics which are not represented in relational schema are acquired from Data Flow Diagrams. They are recovered by analyzing the data dependence of a process to an object. This prototype system provides a semi-automatic transformation process: most of the conversion is done automatically, if possible; and in cases where ambiguities occur or knowledgeable decision is required, user confirmation is sought through an easy-to-use and friendly interface.en_US
