Comparative analysis of the convention industry between Shanghai and Guangzhouen_US
The purpose of this study was to examine the current status of the development of convention industry in Shanghai and Guangzhou, trying to document what has been done, what is being done and what needs to be done in the future for the Chinese convention industry. Fourteen attributes were derived from the literature review. A social survey was conducted in Shanghai and Guangzhou to collect primary data. The findings suggested that after the US 911 attack and SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) attack spreading in China, people strongly believe that security/safety and governmental support towards convention industry are the most important attributes in the convention site selection. Furthermore, the results of independent sample t tests showed that Shanghai is more competitive than Guangzhou in this field. The finding could be utilized as the base to set future developing strategies in the convention industry.en_US
