dc.title | Loadings on platform screen doors | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | The aim of this dissertation is to study the loadings carrying capability of Platform Screen Doors System in the Airport Railway Line. A set of necessary design parameter for Platform Screen Doors System was established. The design parameters can be used for development Platform Screen Doors System of the present MTR System. The constraints, requirements and restrictions for designing the Platform Screen Doors System have been reviewed. All possible operation loads and their combinations that will exert on the Doors have been considered. The results formed the base for calculation of the loads applied on the Platform Screen Doors. Basic design parameters of the Doors have been developed. Then the shape and dimensions of the door panel were determined. One of the aims of this project is to evaluate the structural integrity of the Platform Screen Doors panel. The size of the mullions is preliminary designed using the calculation method. The result indicated that for the optimised sectional area of the mullion, the depth and width of it should be the same. This preliminary design will also be used as the initial design for finite element analysis. The finite element analysis predicts the door panel behaviour under loadings. Based on the analysis result obtained, the mullion size was optimised. An optimised model was analysed again for the expected behaviour. There are some discrepancies between the calculated results and the finite element analysis for the initial model. This is expected because rather crude assumptions have been made in calculating the dimensions. Further analysis is performed on the mullion with simulated defects at the mid-height of the mullion. This is the location where welding is being performed at the production stage. The results from the analysis provide useful information in chosen material and the welding joint of the mullion. Digital Shearography was performed on the reduced model of the PSD. The result obtained is close to the finite element analysis results. This further demonstrates that finite element analysis of the door panel is appropriate for the purpose. | en_US |
