Decision support system for selection of newspaper articlesen_US
This is a project research on Decision Support System. It examines the feasibility of developing a computer-based system to support the selection of newspaper articles by the Hong Kong Catholic social Communication office (HKCSCO) for clipping as index, which is issued bi-weekly for sale to the public. The existing manual selection of news from ten daily local newspapers by staff of HKCSCO is found not effective, as it can result in inconsistency of news collection. The Decision support Engineering methodology had been adopted to build a DSS prototype. Based on the selection criteria, a prototype was eventually developed by the use of database system, model system and simple user interface. The prototype was put to test for a week by the users. The results are very encourageing as the DSS prototype had been proved capable of producing an acceptable priority list for selection of newpaper articles.en_US
