Abstract: The development of tourism in the world will not only bring long-term social and economic benefits, but also generate impacts. The purpose of this study is to investigate the quality assurance practices of operators involved in the Hong Kong tourism industry, especially to evaluate the attitude of operators on 'service quality control' issues. This study mainly focuses on quality assurance practices in the convention industry, and also on identifying and analyzing the potential environmental impacts created by the development of convention tourism. This study combined a qualitative and exploratory research using data obtained through face-to-face in-depth interviews with the key members of the community, who are concerned with the quality assurance issues and have taken some initiatives to reduce the negative impacts of their operations. The study sought to find out what have been the perceived incentives for that tourism operator that have taken action. Diverse opinions were gathered to provide a more complete picture and find out why certain quality control initiatives have not been taken by operators. The scope of this study was local. According to the research findings, most of the opinions with regard to quality assurance issues of their service delivery are positive.
