A decision support system for the preliminary selection of wastewater treatment alternativesen_US
There has been a need to develop some means of selecting systems rationally in an envisaged wastewater treatment works. Recent advances in information technology have complemented decision support systems (DSS). This research developed a user-friendly prototype for the preliminary selection of wastewater treatment alternatives. This prototype will help environmental engineers enhance the quality of their decisions by bringing structure to their decision making process. This prototype, as compared against other optimization models in wastewater treatment, has the advantage of taking into account subjective factors such as social and economical factors. The theoretical background of this DSS is based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process decision-making methodology.en_US
