Performance comparison of augmented multihop lightwave networken_US
In a multihop lightwave network, Shuffle-net is a well-known connection topology that can be applied to an optical passive star. Nodes are arranged in columns with link connecting next stage of column. In the Shuffle-net, N = k . pk nodes are arranged in k columns of pk nodes each. Each column is connected to the next one by pk+1 directed arcs in a fixed p-shuffle pattern with the last column connected to the first one in a wrapped around fashion. With the introduction of additional reverse connection for each node connects to a node in the same row in the proceeding stage based on basic Shuffle-net, Reverse Channel ("RC") Shuffle-net is formed. It is possible to change the extra connection to form loop in each column in order to further improve the overall network performance. It is called the Loop-Augmented ("LA") Shuffle-net. The objective of this dissertation is to compare the performance of LA Shuffle-net over the RC Shuffle-net, and show that LA Shuffle-net is better.en_US
