dc.title | Low profile directional antenna (Patch Antenna) for mobile phone handset | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | A low profile directional antenna, a Patch Antenna, is studied for a 900MHz mobile telephone handset. This designed antenna can be implemented inside the handset battery case. The targeted material's dielectric constant is about 2. We have tested various materials, such as the faber glass, the battery case, the polyphenol and the transparent plastic. It turns out that the polyphenol is the best choice. It is cheap and workable. The end product meets the GSM specifications. It can operate around 890-960 MHz and the return loss is smaller than -9.542dB. We also notice that the radiation pattern towards the user's head can be reduced by 75% compared to other directions. Although the effect of non-ionization electromagnetic radiation on human is still controversy, it is worthwhile studying when designing a low profile directional antenna. | en_US |
