dcterms.abstractAs we are moving into an era of information, telecommunication services would be an integral part of our daily life. An optimum indoor base station location, being fundamental to the people's unimpeded access to the full range of telecommunication services, would play an important role in our migration into an information society. To achieve this, an accurate and reliable prediction method for indoor radio propagation, of which telecommunication systems can actually be connected to people, is of paramount importance. In this project, we attempt to implement a refined indoor propagation model, by developing a PC based planning tool so that the optimum location of Base Station can be determined. We review 4 different types of prediction methods, namely site-specific model, global model, empirical attenuation model and empirical propagation model; and argue that the latest model is the best model of prediction optimum Base Station location. Borland C++ & AutoCAD are then used to develop the Propagation and Optimization Prediction Program. Stimulation will be conducted based on the floor plan of the 5th floor, DE wing of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In order to evaluate the accuracy of the model and its eventual applicability for prediction, the prediction data will be compared with the actual measurement carried out in the same location.en_US
