Abstract: | In order to achieve a high compression ratio with good quality for video coding, moving objects in a video sequence are segmented out and coded. In this thesis, techniques for coding the shape and texture of objects are investigated and implemented. Baseline-based technique is applied to encode the shape for intra and inter-frames. The texture of the object is divided into a number of macro-blocks, which are identified to be either boundary or internal blocks. Extension Interpolation with optimal block placement and motion estimation techniques are used to achieve high compression ratio. The experiment results show that the Extension Interpolation could improve the signal to noise ratio of the boundary blocks. |
