dcterms.abstract | With the advancement in the telecommunication technology like date compression and the popularity of multi-media application, video conferencing will become more popular in the coming years. This research provides a user interface guideline to other people who want to deploy video conferencing with other related applications in the near future. Reader of this dissertation should be able to identify what are the elements of a good user interface design, the international standard recommendations. And readers should be aware of the important of the user interface element when developing a new application. This dissertation is about an international fashion company, GAP, striving to cut down the product development cost using the new video conferencing technology together with other applications like electronic white board. And the result is low usage rate that is due to overlooking of the importance of interface design. In view of this situation, new user interfaces have to be built. This dissertation employs task-centered design process as the steps for the new interface design. Base on the findings from interviews and questionnaires, a new interface prototype was created. This prototype was presented to the existing user for comment and ready for actual development. Moreover, based on the findings, a conceptual model is built which specifying the factors affecting the interface design in this company context. A sample of new interface design create from Visual Basic is included. | en_US |
