Merging MRPII with real-time shop floor controlen_US
The study here attempts to solve the problem of exercising control from MRPII down to the shop floor control through the development of a system of interface to bridge the gap between real-time shop floor monitoring and the MRPII. The system of interfaces developed includes a finite capacity planning that takes input from the PRPII and real-time data from the shop floor to plan the work schedule for the next working day. The system developed called Real-Time Shop Floor Control System (RTSFCS) works on the concept of a three levels hierarchical architecture. In this study, a real-time software prototype was developed for the first level (Shop level) to assist the planner on the shop floor to schedule for the next working day. This scheduling method is based on a "Next Day Scheduling" concept. The resultant prototype has shown to provide a logical solution to the accurate execution of the downward control from the MPRII system.en_US
