dc.title | A data warehouse design for university information systems | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | Data warehousing as an information technology emerged only in early 1990's. It is characterized by an ability to provide an enterprise-wide framework for managing informational data within the organisation and is "a useful source of consistent information describing the organisation and its environment" [61]. This Paper shall work for a data warehouse design for the university information systems. For this purpose, the University of Technical Education was selected as the problem domain for illustration and examination. In designing the data warehouse, a hybrid warehousing/marting approach is adopted. Particular focus has been placed on those salient issues such as data quality and data mining as an important tool in knowledge discovery. Data subjects that have critical effects on the achieving of business goals were explored and formed the focal point in the data warehouse design. It is expected that the data warehouse so developed and intrinsic issues thus explored would shade lights on the data warehouse development of organisations with similar setups. | en_US |
