| dcterms.abstract | Over a decade of "import", the number of domestic helper (Philippines maids) in Hong Kong is greater than 130,000. In fact, their contribution and function to the Hong Kong economy denies the challenge and head-to-head confrontation with the local trade union against the Import Labour Scheme. However, their employment conditions are quite distinctive from the local one: (i) work and live together with the Boss and his/her family day and night, (ii) close-encountered working environment, (iii) communicate in different language. Perhaps their distinctiveness provokes the disputes and conflicts between the Boss and Helper group publicized through the mass media repeatedly. Again, their distinctiveness is the incentive for initiating the study of the industrial relationship between the domestic helper (Philippines) group and the local employer group. A survey is conducted to find out the correlation between these dependent variables: job satisfaction and job performance, and independent variables: culture, environment and conflict resolution styles. Hoping the process and the result of the survey provides better insight and understanding of the industrial relationship in this field.
