dcterms.abstract | In the study of Polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) produced microorganisms, the source of natural PHA producer bacteria can be come from many environments such as activated sludge, sewage effluent or soil. It is relatively less issue related to the isolation of bacteria from seawater/marine sediment. In this study, 4 seawater/marine sediments collected from 4 different locations, with different ecosystem environment, were used to screen and search for PHA producer bacteria. FTIR method was used in the PHA screening. The bacteria isolated from the sediments were employed for PHA accumulation fermentation, using industrial food wastes as carbon substrate.
