dcterms.abstract | The Hospital Authority was established in December 1990 under the Hospital Authority Ordnance to manage all public hospitals in Hong Kong. It is a statutory body which is independent of, but accountable to, the Hong Kong Government through the Secretary for Health and Welfare. As a publicly funded organisation providing health services to the community, the Authority has a responsibility to apply more efficient ways to utilise limited finding. In order to ensure proper cost management, review of existing maintenance management to reduce complaints and increase reliability will be an important issue. Consolidation and improvement of customer services will also be achieved by refocusing on more maintenance service procedures to ensure provision of quality services. The primary aim of the research is to study maintenance management within the context of facility management. There are three objective to this study. The first objective is to find out the impact of IT on hospital maintenance management procedures. The second objective is to investigate resource control for maintenance management. The last one is to assess the most appropriate way to provide improved maintenance management in a hospital. The work has been carried out mainly through a literature review, journal papers, reference books and other valuable materials from Internet as a reference. On the other hand, a number of site investigations, semi-structured interviews and questionnaires have been arranged and conducted. These help outline the phenomenon of the existing requirement for further improvement. It is found that Computerized Integrated Maintenance Management (CIMM) system is not only an effective tool to improve the maintenance services performance, it also is a means to enhance the profile of the organization. | en_US |
