dc.title | Energy conservation measures for domestic washrooms | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | As it is advantageous to enhance the efficiency of energy use and improve the ways of saving energy, energy conservation measures play an important role in construction. For example, energy saving measures in residential hot water systems is increasingly a concern for sustainable building designs. This study attempts to investigate the energy saving by using a heat exchanger in hot water system of bathroom and suggest methods for efficient heat recovery. The hot water in drainage pipe was used to preheat the supply cold water. Based on many different forms of heat exchange, a model was built to simulate the situation of heat exchange between hot water and cold water. The principles of heat exchanger were based on the e - NTU approach. Through experiments, the heat exchange effectiveness of a counter-flow heat exchanger was obtained in a partially filled slope. The emphasis of this study is energy conservation of this heat recovery approach using heat exchanger in domestic washrooms. The experiment results show that it will be a 7%-12% energy saving percentage if using the heat exchanger to recover the heat in waste hot water. It is feasible that this heat recovery approach is used for residential building. For better performance of heat exchange, it is suggested to use the spiral pipe to improve the transfer coefficient of heat exchanger. And a filter must be installed in the waste water pipe to ensure the fluid flows. | en_US |
