Linkage of leadership style and subordinate's decision making styleen_US
The last three decades have produced a plethora of ideas, theories and models concerning human decision making (Gore 1995). However, rare study examined the influence of the leadership style to the subordinate's decision making style. This research was therefore developed to investigate their possible linkage. The various dimensions of the leadership style were postulated to be significantly related to different decision making style negatively or positively. 385 questionnaires were sent to managerial employees in Hong Kong. Totally, there were 130 replies and the response rate was 34% approximately. The Pearson Correlation and Multiple Regression then tested the model and hypotheses. The result showed that only intellectual stimulation of transformational leadership style can influence the subordinate's dependent decision making style. As for other types of decision making style such as rational or avoidant, no correlation was found with the leadership style. Such findings may be explained by the subordinates' perception to the problems and his own value to handle the problems.en_US
