dcterms.abstractHotel industry in Wenzhou remains not well developed at present. On the one hand, it is much laggard behind those developed in China; on the other hand, comparing with remarkable achievements accomplished in city's social and economic development, the progress of this industry is not suitable. However, it is believed this industry is full of potential and it can be further developed in view of thriving economy, booming tourism industry, and strong local market in Wenzhou. In fact, with the firm support arising from advantageous environment and the increasing participation of stronger investors from public, private, and foreign sectors, hotel industry in Wenzhou has grown rapidly in recent years. Consequently, this industry is becoming increasingly competitive whereas its market is getting much tougher simultaneously. Under such circumstances, an appropriate development model for this industry is highly demanded. But, the related studies on this research area are scarce in Wenzhou. The purpose of this study is to search an appropriate development model for hotel industry in Wenzhou in order to attain its sustainability. In addition, the findings of this study will provide meaningful implications for other hotel industries in China, especially those of similar size or at similar development level. The study develops a framework for the analysis of hotel industry development model after extensively reviewing past, relevant hotel or tourism development models in China, investigates the status quo of hotel industry in Wenzhou in the context of China's overall hotel development, and examines various factors including macro external and micro task environment factors, and constraints and trends which influence the development of hotel industry in Wenzhou. As a result, an appropriate development model is recommended along with a number of suggestions for hotel industry in Wenzhou.en_US
