| dcterms.abstract | Information systems and technology (IS/IT) has been rapidly developed during the last decade. Strategic management has also been widely studies, analysed and applied to business environment. The strategic formation has been applied by linking organisational stages of growth to that of information systems. Michael Porter's study on competitive strategy, value chain and competitive advantage has been widely adopted and modified. Some writers also link IS/IT to strategy and explore interrelationship amongst them. Business entrepreneurs are applying strategy with IS/IT to sustain competitive advantage over their competitors. There are quite a number of successful applications. This research attempts to analyse the role of IS/IT to sustain competitive advantage and the strategic applications that could be possible in Hong Kong. The possible applications suggested are : franchising, specialised superstores, consortium chain leaded by consultancy firm, strategic use of EDI and IS/IT. | en_US |
