Abstract: | This dissertation studies the current uniform market situation and trends of future uniform market in Hong Kong. The increasing image consciousness and consumption value of uniform market in Hong Kong are the main ground for this project. The first objective of this study is to understand the market situation of uniform in nine industrial sectors and four uniform types in Hong Kong. The second objective is to examine the perception of uniform in different industrial sectors and the third one is to predict the future uniform market in different industrial sectors and in terms of different categories of uniform. Data collection was based on multiple sources including direct tele-questionnaire surveys and literature review. Through investigating the percentage of the uniform wearers, expenditure on uniform, frequency of style change in different industrial sector, the existing uniform market was examined and future development of uniform market is predicted. The finding also indicated the lowest cost of uniform set is in manufacturing & electricity & gas industries sectors, the highest cost of uniform set is in transportation, financing & civil service because of part of uniform set is more expensive. The survey also tell us the highest frequency of style change of uniform is in retailing & financing industries sectors, the lowest period of style change of uniform is in manufacturing & civil service sector because this sector do not want frequent style change. It was found that future uniform market will gradually expand not only in terms of budget and quality, but also in terms of distribution channels. "One-stop shopping" could be a new and feasible uniform-service concept in future of uniform market in Hong Kong. The findings also indicated that the widely acceptable price for a uniform is below HK$1,500, it varies from different types of industries. The perception of uniform in most industries sectors agree that uniform can enhance a company's image, staff's morale, loyalty, teamspirit, and safety. It is expected that this study can provide a reference for decision makers in uniform business and those interested in the uniform market of Hong Kong. |
